It has been introduced for visitors to Sydney or motorists wanting to use these roads without a tag.

Motorists who choose to buy an E-toll pass can now use it on all motorways in NSW.

Passes are used the same way as tags. Motorists just need to drive through E-lanes. Motorists who travel outside the time of their pass will be issued with a toll notice.

How long is the pass valid?

What if I am driving a rental vehicle?

If you are driving a rental vehicle you can register for an Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) E- Toll pass online at myRTA.com or by calling 131 865. As well as the details in the answer above, you will need to provide the name of the rental company plus the start and end time of the proposed trip. This will prevent you being charged for trips made by another person renting the vehicle on the same day.

Can I register or use a pass for more than one vehicle?

Only one vehicle can be registered for a pass at a time.  If you want to use another vehicle for toll road trip, you need to register for another pass.

What if I am towing a trailer, caravan, horse float etc?

If you are towing another vehicle (trailer, caravan, horse float etc) you will need to register a second pass for the vehicle being towed. The registration fee will be waived on the second pass for the vehicle being towed. If a statement is required for the towed vehicle, the statement can only be sent by email.

How do I use my Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) E- Toll pass?

Once you have registered your details and have been provided with an Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) E-Toll pass number, you can use your pass. Follow the red and white 'e' symbol on signs and lane markings. You do not need to stop at the toll points but you must not exceed the posted speed.

Do I have to travel in a specific lane if I have an Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) E-Toll pass?

Yes, you need to use the lanes marked with the red and white 'e' symbol.

What happens if I use a Sydney motorway outside the hours registered for the pass?

If you register for an Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) E-Toll pass and use a toll road outside the validity period of your pass and do not pay with cash (where possible), you will be issued with a Toll Notice.

Can I claim Cashback under the NSW government Cashback Scheme?

No, Cashback is only available to electronic tag account holders for trips on the M4 and M5 motorways.

When am I going to be charged for the trips?

All trip charges and fees you incur will be charged to your credit card within 14 days of your pass end date.

Can I cancel Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) E-Toll pass after I have registered?

Yes you can cancel your pass by calling 131 865. The registration fee for that pass will still apply and be charged to your credit card. You cannot cancel your pass online.

Is there a number associated with the pass when it is issued?

Yes, once you register online or over the phone, you will receive a 12 digit E-Toll pass ID. Use this number as your reference for any phone enquiries.

Is there a fee for statements/tax invoices?

Email statements are free, however there is a charge to have a statement posted or faxed. We issue a combined statement and tax invoice.

When is the statement/tax invoice sent?

The statements/invoices will be posted, faxed or emailed 14 days from the end date of the pass, when payment for all tolls and fees are processed.

Can taxis and hire cars register for an E-Toll pass?

NSW taxis and hire cars can not register for an Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) E-Toll pass.

You can pay for your pass with credit card only. We accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express or Diners Club.

Are there any restrictions associated with the credit card?

Yes, the credit card you use to register your Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) E-toll pass must have a valid expiry date to cover the period of the pass plus a further 14 days to cover the tolls and fees when they are charged to your credit card. If the credit card expiry date is not valid for that time you must use another current card.

Can I pay for an Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) E-Toll pass by cash, cheque or BPAY or pay at a toll booth or post office?

No. The E-Toll system requires automatic settlement of the pass transaction against a valid credit card eight days after the pass has expired. Cash, cheque and BPAY do not allow this automatic settlement.

If there are no funds available on my credit card are there any charges?

Yes, there is a dishonour fee if we are unable to successfully charge your credit card.
