Electronic tolling allows you to pay tolls automatically with an electronic tag or a pass. Which one you choose depends on which motorways you use and how often you use them.
E-Toll tag
Electronic tags are the best toll payment option for regular motorways users. The RTA E-Toll tag can be used on all toll roads in Sydney and interstate.
You can choose between two payment plans – frequent or infrequent – to suit your budget and your motorway use.
When you receive your tag, follow the installation instructions to attach it to the inside of your vehicle’s windscreen. Each time you use a motorway, sensors mounted at toll collection points will detect the tag and the toll will be automatically charged to your tag account. There are no administration or low-usage fees for using an RTA E-Toll tag.

E-Toll pass
If you are visiting Sydney or you are a casual motorway user and don’t have tag, you can register for an RTA E-Toll pass to pay the Sydney Harbour Tunnel and Bridge tolls.
You can now register for an E-Toll pass for Sydney Harbour Tunnel or Bridge trips from Sunday 8 July.
When you use the Sydney Harbour Tunnel or Bridge and travel in a lane marked with the red and white 'e' symbol, your number plate is photographed and matched to your pass registration details. Additional trip and registration fees apply for using a pass.
