Australian Road Rules - proposed changes

The Australian Road Rules are ‘model rules’ that form the basis of road rules in each State and Territory.

The National Transport Commission has released a package of proposed amendments to the Australian Road Rules for public comment.

Proposals include changes to rules relating to seat belts, child restraints, heavy vehicles and traffic management.

A copy of the draft Regulatory Impact Statement and model amendments may be accessed at the National Transport Commission’s website (www.ntc.gov.au).

Any comments on the proposals should be submitted directly to the National Transport Commission by 30 October 2009.
