Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) is reviewing road safety at locations where fixed speed cameras were switched off or placed in ‘warning notice’ mode in July 2011.
Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) is working with NSW Police, the NRMA and other stakeholders during the review. The review will look at crash history, traffic volumes, road conditions, land use, high risk road user behaviour and community feedback.

List of fixed speed camera locations in NSW
Fixed speed cameras are installed at sites that meet specific criteria. Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) Fixed Speed Camera Site Selection Criteria were developed by Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) in consultation with the NRMA and the NSW Police Service.
These criteria are based on crash and injury accident rates and travelling speeds. This ensures that cameras are installed on 'blacklengths' (lengths of road with a high accident rate) and a demonstrated speeding problem.
How many speed cameras
There are currently 172 fixed speed cameras at 141 locations, 65 of these cameras are located in 44 school zones (school zones are considered locations). These camera locations are listed alphabetically, by suburb/town, below.
The Auditor General has published a performance audit report on speed cameras. This report provided details of 32 fixed speed cameras that Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) has identified should be reviewed and a further 6 that Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) had already deactivated following road improvements at the location. The Minister of Roads and Ports has announced that these cameras will now be deactivated. The 32 locations are marked below with AG Deactivated and the 6 previously deactivated marked with Deactivated.
