Slow Down Roadshow

Speeding is the biggest killer on NSW roads.

An average of almost 200 people die and 4000 people are injured on NSW roads every year as the result of a speeding related crash.

The NSW Centre for Road Safety launched the Slow Down Roadshow to target speeding and to help reduce the loss of life on our roads.

The roadshow travels around the state educating the community about the consequences of speeding.

It features a graphic display of two identical cars crashed at different speeds – one at 60kmh and one at 100kmh – to visually highlight the impacts of speeding.

Locations

The Slow Down Road Show was launched at Macarthur Square, Campbelltown in September 2008 and has since travelled to many locations across the State.

A series of further road shows was recently launched in Western Sydney with new Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) Road Safety Ambassador and retired NRL legend Hazem El Masri. The launch took place on Saturday 18 September at the Weight and Age Gala day held at the Liverpool Catholic Club.

Western Sydney events will feature the crashed cars display and audiovisual presentation, Slow Down Pledge pods where visitors to the display can take the pledge, as well as interactive football drills.
