The School Crossing Supervisor program is a state-wide program that contributes to the safety of infants and primary school students. It does this by providing School Crossing Supervisors to help them use the crossing facilities on roads adjacent to schools, or the nearest crossing facility. School Crossing Supervisors are provided where Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) guidelines and criteria are met.
School crossing supervisors are provided to increase mobility and safety around schools by enhancing the performance of certain pedestrian traffic facilities. School Crossing Supervisors are provided at pedestrian facilities where it is recognised that additional measures are required to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of primary and infant school children.
The School Crossing Supervisors program is an important component of the Safety Around School program.
