In New South Wales (NSW) more than one million school students travel to and from school each day by various modes of transport and as pedestrians.

The vast majority of students do travel to and from school safely. However, the State Government is committed to further increasing safety for children during school travel times.

The RTA has two main programs addressing school road safety. These are the Safety Around Schools Program and the Road Safety Education Program.
