Bicycle accident statistics

Main points

  • 1999: Four of the 12 pedal cyclists killed and at least 19% of those injured were not wearing a helmet.
  • 1998: Three of the seven pedal cyclists killed and at least 18% of those injured were not wearing a helmet.
  • 1997: At least 22% of the pedal cyclists who were killed or seriously injured were not wearing a helmet.
