Bicycle education centres

Education is an important part of road safety for everyone using our roads.

There are several centres across NSW where children can learn road rules and safe cycling in organised school groups.

Metropolitan Sydney

In metropolitan Sydney the NSW Police Service runs the centres as part of the Community and Road Education Scheme (CARES) Program. CARES is a road safety education program designed to teach school children in years 4 to 6 about the road rules.

There are currently five CARES centres in metropolitan Sydney.

  • Bass Hill – phone 9743 9297.
  • Sydney South – phone 9519 9465.

Regional NSW

In regional NSW, bicycle education centres similar to CARES centres are run by local councils and Police and Community Youth Clubs. They are located in the following areas:

  • Campbelltown – phone02 4645 4376 (Monday-Saturday) and 02 4625 7073 (Sunday).
  • Albury – phone 02 6021 7437.
