    PDFPacific Highway upgrade program May 2009 The Pacific Highway upgrade program is one of the largest infrastructure projects in NSW. A joint initiative of the NSW and Australian governments, the program has brought major improvements to road conditions and travel times from Hexham to the Queensland border. 2MB
    PDFYelgun to Chinderah September 2009 The Yelgun to Chinderah upgrade of the Pacific Highway bypasses the Burringbar Range, which was a notorious blackspot. 3MB
    PDFTaree bypass September 2009 The Taree bypass was built east of Taree. The bypass cut travel times by approximately 10 minutes and overall distance of the highway by 4.5 km. 3MB
    PDFRaymond Terrace to Karuah September 2009 To reduce impact on the environment, eight animal underpasses were built along animal corridors along with 7 km's of floppy top fence to guide animals towards the underpasses. 3MB
    PDFRaleigh deviation September 2009 An animal underpass was built at the southern end of Pine Creek State Forest to link koala habitats on either side of the highway and fencing was installed to stop koalas entering the roadway. 3MB
    PDFLyons Road to England Road September 2009 Starting at the southern end of the Coffs Harbour area, the upgrade improves traffic flow and enhances the safety of this busy section of the Pacific Highway. 3MB
    PDFCoolongolook to Wang Wauk September 2009 Linking the Bulahdelah to Coolongolook upgrade to the Wang Wauk to Bundacree Creek upgrade, this project improved travel times, road safety and traffic conditions on this section of the Pacific Highway. 3MB
    PDFCoopernook bypass September 2009 The project involved building a four lane divided road east of Coopernook, with twin bridges over the Lansdowne River and Coopernook Creek. 3MB
    PDFKaruah bypass September 2009 Passing through spectacular bushland, wetland and open pasture, the Karuah bypass crosses the Karuah River to the west of the old highway.
    PDFKaruah to Bulahdelah September 2009 Starting north of the Karuah bypass to Viney Creek, the Karuah to Bulahdelah, section 1 upgrade, removed a section of the Pacific Highway that was poorly aligned and a well-known blackspot. 3MB
    PDFBundacree Creek to Possum Brush September 2009 The upgrade involves two new bridges over the Wallamba River and Pipeclay Creek as well as an overpass that provides access to the village of Nabiac. 3MB
    PDFBulahdelah to Coolongolook September 2009 Passing mostly through State Forest, the Bulahdelah to Coolongolook upgrade is separate from the old highway and eliminates 60 bends, including sections through O'Sullivans Gap and Wootton Bends that were known for their poor accident history. 3MB
    PDFBrunswick Heads to Yelgun September 2009 The project incorporates a high-standard 110km/h double-lane divided road improving travelling conditions for motorists. 3MB
    PDFBray Street to Arthur Street September 2009 This upgrade removed a bottleneck at the northern end of the Coffs Harbour central business district. 2MB
