Singleton bypass
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has begun investigating the feasibility of a potential New England Highway bypass of Singleton.
The New England Highway is part of the National Land Transport Network and funding for planning, improvements and upgrading is primarily a matter for the Australian Government.
Consultation
Given the preliminary stage of the project, RMS has engaged with Singleton Council as a key stakeholder. Council has been involved throughout the early planning and analysis stages of the study.
What happens next?
The preliminary options and feasibility assessment is due to be completed in 2012. This study then could form part of a submission to the Australian Government for funding of a more detailed feasibility study and broad community consultation.
