CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS FOR THE HUNTER EXPRESSWAY

Motorists are advised of ongoing changed traffic conditions due to work on the Hunter Expressway.Worksite safety

Newcastle Link Road, Cameron Park

Traffic may be stopped for up to three minutes on weekdays between 9am and 3.30pm and between 7pm and 5am. Lane closures will be in place on the Newcastle Link Road and the Cameron Park Drive roundabout near the F3 Freeway.

F3 Freeway, Newcastle interchange

On Saturday 26 May northbound traffic on the F3 Freeway will be reduced to one lane for about one kilometre either side of Newcastle Link Road between 7am and 5pm, weather permitting. Motorists are advised to exercise caution.

John Renshaw Drive / George Booth Drive, Buchanan

Motorists should expect increased activity around the Buchanan roundabout. Traffic on John Renshaw Drive from Averys Lane to Buchanan Road and on George Booth Drive near Buchanan Road may be stopped for up to five minutes on weekdays between 7am and 6pm. The speed limit has been reduced to 40km/h on a one kilometre section of George Booth Drive at Surveyors Creek No. 2, near the intersection of John Renshaw Drive at Buchanan.

Changed traffic conditions are in place on Buchanan Road near the intersection of John Renshaw Drive. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and reduce their speed.

George Booth Drive, Buchanan

Traffic may be stopped on George Booth Drive for up to five minutes on weekdays between 7am and 6pm to allow oversized vehicles carrying bridge segments to travel between Surveyors Creek No. 3 and Blue Gum Creek and the F3 Freeway and Seahampton Road, Seahampton.

Traffic control will be in place and motorists may be stopped briefly to allow the vehicles to safely access the site.

Averys Lane, Buchanan

The northern end of Averys Lane is now closed to through traffic.  A detour is in place until May 2013, weather permitting. Motorists wishing to access the four properties at the northern end of Averys Lane will be detoured from John Renshaw Drive via the site access 600 metres east of Averys Lane. The detour is clearly signposted and a map is available in this letter on the project website.

Lovedale Road, Allandale

A 60km/h speed limit is in place between Camp Road and the railway line in both directions. During work hours traffic may be reduced to one lane under traffic control and stopped briefly to allow work vehicles to cross Lovedale Road near the future Allandale interchange.

Motorists are advised there will be increased heavy vehicle traffic between Lovedale Road and Old Maitland Road via Majors Lane during May. Motorists are reminded to obey overtaking rules and not to cross double white unbroken lines.

Camp Road, Greta

Traffic may be stopped briefly to allow work vehicles to cross Camp Road near the future Camp Road underpass. Traffic may also be reduced to one lane under traffic control during work hours.

Wine Country Drive, Branxton

The existing 50km/h speed limit has been extended by about 200 metres to the south. Traffic may be stopped briefly in both directions to allow access to the site.

Work vehicles will enter Railway Street under traffic control during work hours. There is no access to Railway Street for other vehicles from Wine Country Drive.

New England Highway, Belford

For the next two months one lane will be closed in each direction on two kilometres of the New England Highway, west of Branxton and the speed limit will be reduced to 60km/h during work hours and to 80km/h otherwise. Motorists should be aware of increased heavy vehicle traffic and a reduced shoulder width between Black Creek and Belford.

Traffic turning into Standen Drive from the New England Highway may experience short delays to allow truck movements close to the intersection.

The speed limit has been permanently reduced to 60km/h in both directions near the site of the future Branxton interchange.

Ongoing traffic changes from Kurri Kurri to Branxton

The speed limit on McLeod Road at Kurri Kurri has been reduced to 50km/h between Northcote Street and Bowditch Avenue for about one kilometre. Traffic may be stopped briefly to allow work vehicles to cross the road and may also be reduced to one lane under traffic control during work hours, weather permitting.

The speed limit on Main Road at Kurri Kurri has been reduced to 60km/h for one kilometre between Stanford Road and Cantwell Street. This reduced speed limit will be in place until 2013 to allow work to be carried out on Main Road and is in operation during work hours. Traffic may be stopped briefly near the future Kurri Kurri interchange to allow work vehicles to cross the road.

The speed limit on Tuckers Lane at Greta has been reduced to 40km/h through the work site. Traffic may be stopped briefly to allow work vehicles to cross the road and while road improvements are carried out.

A detour is in place to divert traffic north of where the new Tuckers Lane bridge is being built. Traffic may be stopped briefly to allow work vehicles to cross the road and while road improvements are carried out.

Hart Road at Loxford has been closed between McGarva Avenue and Scales Avenue. Road users are being detoured via McGarva Avenue, Horton Road and Scales Avenue. The speed limit has been reduced to 40km/h.

The speed limit on Old Maitland Road at Sawyers Gully has been reduced to 60km/h from Majors Lane for about 400 metres. Traffic may be stopped in the area briefly to allow work to continue.
