Intersection improvements - Scone

Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) has completed safety improvements and traffic improvements at the intersection of the New England Highway (Kelly Street) and Liverpool Street, Scone.

Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) installed traffic lights to replace the roundabout at the intersection of Kelly and Liverpool streets.

Work on the traffic lights was completed in December 2010.

The project was fully funded by the NSW Government.

Identifying the preferred option

This decision on the preferred option was made after extensive consultation with the Scone community including public displays in 2008 and 2010 and consideration of alternate options.

Feedback from Upper Hunter Shire Council, the Scone Chamber of Commerce and local residents was carefully considered before the decision on the preferred option was made.

Installing traffic lights to improve safety at the intersection was chosen as the preferred option as it will provide protection for pedestrians on all four legs of the intersection and will have a lesser impact on parking spaces in the Scone main street.
