Lookout Road at the John Hunter Hospital Entrance intersection upgrade
An upgrade of the intersection of Lookout Road and the entrance to John Hunter Hospital, New Lambton Heights was completed in 2006 with traffic lights replacing an existing roundabout.
The $4 million project is fully funded by the NSW Government.
As part of the project, access to Ridgeway Road and Bushland Close was restricted to left in and left out only.
Benefits
- Reduced delays and improved travel times along the route due to the increased capacity of the new intersection.
- Improved traffic flow through traffic signals co-ordinated with other signals along the route.
- Increased capacity for through and turning traffic by provision of two through lanes and two right-turn bays into the hospital.
- Improved pedestrian safety with signalised pedestrian crossings for local residents, hospital patients and staff. Pedestrians will no longer need to cross the road in traffic gaps.
