Erskine park Link Road

Construction commences on Erskine Park Link Road, a new road providing a vital link to the NSW Government's Western Sydney Employment Area. Erskine Park Link Road is scheduled to be completed in mid 2013.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

  • Continue to establish the project site office near Old Wallgrove Road during December 2011.
  • Major construction work including earth works are expected to commence in early 2012.
  • Bridge works across Ropes Creek are expected to commence in early 2012.

PROJECT BENEFITS:

Completion of the Erskine Park Link Road will:

  • Link Lenore Lane and Old Wallgrove Road and provide a vital connection between the Western Sydney Employment Area and the M7 and M4 motorways.
  • Reinforce the Western Sydney Employment Area as a significant employment hub.
  • Reduce industrial traffic on the existing Erskine Park Road and adjoining local roads.
  • Improve traffic flow in western Sydney with direct connection to and from the M7 Motorway.
  • Provide a new shared cycle/pedestrian path.
  • Reduce transport costs for industry located in the Western Sydney Employment Area.

About the Western Sydney Employment Area:

  • It is located at the intersection of the M4 and M7 Motorways.
  • Contains an area of more than 2,200 hectares of employment land that is expected to accommodate 40,000 jobs.
  • The area provides well-located, accessible and diverse employment lands to support manufacturing, transport and logistics activities.
  • The area comprises of existing land at Greystanes, Huntingwood, Eastern Creek and Erskine Park, as well as newly released land at Ropes Creek and Horsley Park.

What has happened so far?

2011: Construction commences.
2011: NACE Civil Engineering Pty Ltd were awarded the construction contract for the Erskine Park Link Road on 23 May 2011.
2010: Project approval was obtained.
2010: Tenders were called for the construction of the Erskine Park Link Road between Lenore Lane in the Penrith City Council area and Old Wallgrove Road in Blacktown City Council area.
2010: Project approval was obtained.
2010: Submissions report prepared following consideration of comments received from the Review of Environmental Factors.
2010: Review of Environmental Factors displayed for comment.
2009: The NSW Government approved the concept plan in August 2009.
2008: Concept Plan displayed for comment between 20 March and 28 April 2008.
