CENTENARY DRIVE / ARTHUR STREET INTERSECTION – INVESTIGATIONS TO EASE CONGESTION

Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) is developing potential options to ease congestion at the intersection of Centenary Drive and Arthur Street, Strathfield including the viability of providing a southbound off-ramp on to Parramatta Road.

Centenary Drive forms part of Sydney's road transport corridor running between Mona Vale to the north and Blakehurst to the south, providing access to the major centres of Ryde, Strathfield, Bankstown and Hurstville. The corridor also provides connections to the Pacific Highway, M2 Motorway, M4 Freeway, Hume Highway, M5 Motorway and Princes Highway.

Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) expects to have identified potential options to ease congestion at this intersection towards the end of 2011.

Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) will then evaluate the effectiveness of potential options using traffic modelling, as well as consider potential impacts on utilities, traffic staging, local access and other factors.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) will continue investigations to develop potential options and evaluate their effectiveness in easing congestion at the intersection of Centenary Drive and Arthur Street. Consultation with Strathfield, Auburn and Canada Bay Councils will also be undertaken by Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority).

Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) will continue to provide updated information to the community as these investigations progress.
