The ANZAC Bridge is a Sydney icon and an important part of the road network. It is now fifteen years since the ANZAC Bridge opened to traffic and Roads and Maritime Services is undertaking a maintenance program to ensure its effective operation into the future.
The maintenance project will improve the bridge's stay cables, improve maintenance access to hard to reach parts of the bridge, improve the safety fencing and assist views from the bridge.

What's happening now?
Maintenance work on ANZAC Bridge started in November 2011 and will take around two years to complete.
The new permanent maintenance walkways on the southern span of the bridge have been installed along the both sides of the bridge. Work is now underway to install the maintenance walkways along the middle span o f the bridge.
In April, work commenced to improve the bridge’s stay cables. A robot is currently being used to apply a spiral rib to the outside of the stay cables. This is will help prevent the cables vibrating in windy and rainy conditions.
In early May the newly repaired maintenance gantry was reinstalled to the underside of the bridge deck.
