Hoxton Park Road

Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) has completed the upgrade of Hoxton Park Road from a two-lane road to a four-lane divided road between Cowpasture Road and Banks Road. This project was fully funded by the NSW Government.

Background
Hoxton Park Road is the main connection between Cowpasture Road at Hoxton Park and the Hume Highway at Liverpool. It passes through both residential and industrial areas.
Upgrading the entire length of Hoxton Park Road has been ongoing since 2002.
These ongoing works have reduced traffic congestion, improved access for local residents and created a safer road for all users.
The tender to upgrade Hoxton Park Road between Cowpasture Road and Banks Road was awarded to Cut and Fill in February 2009. Work commenced in April 2009 and was completed in November 2011.
Some minor ancillary works will occur in 2012. However, disruptions to traffic will be kept to a minimum.
Features of the upgrade
- Twin bridges to be built over Hinchinbrook Creek, including a pedestrian pathway.
- Upgraded traffic lights at the Hoxton Park Road/First Avenue and Hoxton Park Road/Whitford Road/Illaroo Road intersections.
- New traffic lights at the Hoxton Park Road/Glen Innes Road intersection.
- New service road between First Avenue and Dorrigo Avenue to improve access to shops and residential estates.
- Bus bays along Hoxton Park Road at Glen Innes Road, Dorrigo Avenue, First Avenue and Whitford Road.
- Shared pedestrian and cycle path on the northern side of Hoxton Park Road linking Cowpasture Road with the M7 shared pedestrian and cycle path at Wilson Road.
- Four-lane divided road with a central median.
