Camden Valley Way upgrade
Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) is proposing to upgrade Camden Valley Way between Cobbitty Road, Harrington Park and Cowpasture Road, Horningsea Park. The updated concept design and review of environmental factors for the upgrade have been displayed for community comment.
Features of the proposed road upgrade
- Upgraded from a two lane to a four lane divided road.
- A posted vehicle speed limit of 80 km/h.
- Two metre wide shoulders.
- A 3 metre wide off-road shared pedestrian/cyclist path on the western side of the road.
- Traffic lights at Heath, St Andrews, Raby, Catherine Field and Springfield roads.
- New traffic lights to access Forest Lawn Cemetery at Leppington.
- New traffic lights at Cowpasture Road (south).
- The re-alignment of Denham Court Road and Ingleburn Road to a four-way intersection with traffic lights.
- Temporary U-turn facilities located opposite traffic lights at upgraded intersections of Springifeld Road, St Andrews Road, Heath Road and Forest Lawn Cemetery.
- Adjustments to public utilities such as gas, electricity and telephone services along the route.
- A wide central median with landscaping consistent with other upgraded sections of Camden Valley Way.
- The wide central median would allow for future widening to six lanes, when required in the future.
- Designated turning lanes and bicycle provisions at traffic lights.
- Bus priority capability at traffic lights and indented bus bays on each side of Camden Valley Way.
- Twin bridges over the heritage Sydney Water canal would be built so that the canal is not impacted.
- Existing properties on Camden Valley Way would continue to have direct left in/left out access until precinct development takes place.
