Richmond Bridge and Approaches Congestion Study
During morning and afternoon peak traffic periods, Richmond Bridge and its approach roads March Street/Kurrajong Road/Bells Line of Road between East Market Street, Richmond and Grose Vale Road, North Richmond are congested.
Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) is currently undertaking the investigation of road and traffic conditions on this section of road which includes Richmond Bridge over the Hawkesbury River, to improve traffic flow.
Roads and Maritime Services' (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) scope of work includes:
- analysing the current traffic condition in order to identify potential solutions
- investigating the structural suitability of the existing Richmond Bridge for an upgrade
WORK IN PROGRESS
Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) has been working with Hawkesbury City Council and has engaged consultants to a carry out traffic modelling for the project area incorporating Richmond Bridge, approaches and associated roads, in order to identify potential solutions to the current traffic congestion.
Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) is also carrying out preliminary investigation to establish the structural integrity of the existing Richmond Bridge.

Options to improve traffic flow will be presented to the community for comments in 2012.
