Canberra Avenue - noise treatments

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is planning to install 2.5 to 3.5 metres high noise walls along a two kilometre length of Canberra Avenue, Queanbeyan to address road traffic noise. Architectural treatment will also be provided to three eligible houses and a unit block.

These measures have been planned following consultation with nearby residents and technical assessments such as acoustic reports and shade studies. These reports, including a community issues summary, are available for your information on the project documents page.

The NSW Government has committed $3.25 million this financial year to complete the design, install architectural treatments and construct the noise walls.

Construction of the noise walls is now underway. It is expected to be complete by the end of 2013, weather permitting.

Changes to traffic conditions on Canberra Avenue

Throughout the year there will be some lane and shoulder closures required.

When needed, these closures will occur from 6am - 3pm eastbound and from 10am to 6pm westbound on Canberra Avenue, Queanbeyan.

During closures, through traffic will be maintained at all times and a reduced road work speed of 40km/h will be in place.
