What's happening now ?

Southern toll plaza precinct upgrade work has begun on the southern and northern approaches of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Night road work will continue in March 2013. We are also planning to install a new tolling gantry in late April, near the High Street overpass at North Sydney. To minimise the impact on traffic, some lanes of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and approaches will be intermittently closed to general traffic during this work.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge Precinct

Roads and Maritime Services is taking a coordinated approach with the myriad of projects that are occurring on, or around, the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

In all the work required to look after, improve and adapt the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the needs of a modern city, Roads and Maritime Services is committed to preserving the beauty and character of the structure, its setting – in the whole and in parts.

There is information on this website about the activities related to the bridge and its environs. Urban design, traffic, pedestrian, public transport, safety and maintenance projects all work together in this critical space that transfers an average of 204 trains, 160,435 vehicles and 1650 bikes per day based on September 2010 traffic count figures.

Ennis Road Kirribilli

Roads and Maritime Services is planning an upgrade of office and retail tenancies along Ennis Road at Kirribilli.  This upgrade includes the concourse leading to Milsons Point railway station and will enhance the streetscape along Ennis Road and improve access to the concourse for commuters.

Conservation Management Plan

Conservation Management Plan for the Sydney Harbour Bridge has been prepared to provide a framework for its ongoing care and management, including decisions about conservation, use and development.
