What has happened in April 2012

Macleay River and floodplain bridge

• Continuation of Super T girder deliveries from Macksville to both Austral Eden and    Frederickton.
• Completion of driven piling on the floodplain
• Continuation of pier and headstock construction and girder erection for the floodplain section of the bridge.
• Continuation of concrete deck pours for the floodplain section of the bridge.
• Commencement of transfer of the northern rock platform to the southern side of the Macleay River.
• Continuation of pile cap, pier and headstock construction on the Macleay River section of the bridge.
• Girder erection on the river section of the bridge.

South Kempsey to Pola Creek

• Continuation of construction of the bridges over the North Coast Railway Line, Boat Harbour Creek and South Kempsey interchange.
• Continuation of bulk earthworks at the South Kempsey interchange.
• Commencement of tie-in works near the Kempsey Indoor Sports Centre.
• Continuation of Lyall Lane road works.
• Completion of property access roads onto Crescent Head Road.

Pola Creek to Macleay River

• Continuation of construction of the Pola Creek, Old Station Road and Inches Road bridges.
• Continuation of flood mitigation works in the form of house raising across the floodplain.
• Continuation of concrete paving and associated works.
• Construction of approaches to Inches Road and Old Station Road overbridges.

Frederickton interchange

• Continuation of placement of select pavement material, subsoils and drainage on Smithtown link.
• Placement of pavement material on the Smithtown link.
• Completion of concrete paving of the eastern roundabout.
• Continuation of tie-in works at Smithtown link.

Key construction activities during May and June 2012

Macleay River and floodplain bridge

• Continuation of Super T girder deliveries from Macksville to both Austral Eden and Frederickton.
• Continuation of Super T girder erection on the river and floodplain.
• Continuation of the delivery and erection of the precast concrete barriers.
• Completion of the rock platform transfer from the north side to the south side of the Macleay River.
• Start of bored piling from the southern rock platform.
• Completion of pier and headstock construction for the floodplain section of the bridge.
• Continuation of deck pours for the floodplain section of the bridge, moving north.
• Continuation of pile cap, pier and headstock construction on the Macleay River section of the bridge.

South Kempsey to Pola Creek

• Completion of construction of the Bingis Lane fauna underpass.
• Completion of pavement sealing between Lyall Lane and Pola Creek.
• Completion of property access roads onto Crescent Head Road.
• Continuation of construction of the bridges over the North Coast Railway Line, Boat Harbour Creek and South Kempsey interchange.
• Continuation of drainage from the southern interchange to North Coast Railway.
• Continuation of construction of northbound ramp near the Kempsey Indoor Sports Centre.
• Completion of drainage and bulk earthworks at the South Kempsey interchange.
• Commencement of concrete pavement works between Crescent Head Road and Pola Creek.

Pola Creek to Macleay River

• Completion of flood mitigation works in the form of house raising across the floodplain.
• Completion of installation of drainage between Pola Creek and Old Station Road.
• Continuation of construction of the Pola Creek bridge and approaches to Old Station Road and Inches Road bridges.
• Continuation of concrete pavement and the commencement of concrete shoulder paving works.

Frederickton interchange

• Continuation of placement of select pavement material, subsoils and drainage on the northbound off ramp to Smithtown. 
• Start of tie-in works at Frederickton and northbound off ramp to Smithtown.
• Start of asphalt works.
• Completion of concrete paving of the eastern roundabout.
• Start of Frederickton levee and boat ramp construction.
