Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour Section

Preferred tenderer announced for Nambucca Heads to Urunga Upgrade

Abigroup Contractors Pty Ltd has been selected as the preferred tenderer to design and build the Nambucca Heads to Urunga upgrade of the Pacific Highway.

The contractor will start the detailed design in 2013 with early building works expected to start around the Kalang River in early 2013 and main building work expected to start later in 2013.

The project team is continuing with land acquisitions and investigations to prepare this section for the start of major work in 2013.

The Pacific Highway between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour currently covers a distance of 151 kilometres. When upgraded it will have a length of 146 kilometres.

Currently there are:

  • 36 kilometres of four lane divided highway.
  • 14.5 kilometres of four lane divided highway under construction.
  • 48 kilometres being prepared for construction of four lane divided highway.
  • 57.4 kilometres of four lane divided highway being planned.

Please note: The kilometres in the dot points above may vary from the total length for this section due to adjustments made for connections and current four lane sections not on the final alignment.
