Pacific Highway Upgrade

Bonville upgrade

This project was opened to traffic in September 2008.

The Bonville upgrade involved a 9.6 kilometre dual carriageway upgrade of the Pacific Highway from Perrys Road to Lyons Road and included a bypass of Bonville.

This project was jointly funded by the NSW and Australian governments.

Project features

  • Grade separated interchanges are at Mailmans Track and Archville Stations roads.
  • The existing highway has been retained as a local service road.
  • A 60 metre wide fauna overpass through the Bongil Bongil National Park was built to help protect a significant koala population.
  • More than 200,000 tonnes of aggregate and sand, and over 25,000 cubic meters of concrete were used to build the project.
  • There are 19 bridges on the project with a combined length of 1.2 kilometres.
  • The longest bridges are over Bonville Creek and are 164 meters.
