Pacific Highway Upgrade

Raymond Terrace Bypass

The upgrade provides a 7.6km divided dual carriageway bypass of Raymond Terrace (23.4 to 30.8km North of Newcastle).

The bypass starts just south of Masonite Road at Heatherbrae and extends northwards to rejoin the existing Pacific Highway near Rangers Road.

A large roundabout at the intersection with Masonite Road, (diameter 66m) serves as the southern interchange for the bypass, and a new highway interchange at Richardson Road provides access to and from Raymond Terrace and other locations in the Port Stephens area.

Benefits to road users include improved traffic flow, safer travel and more overtaking opportunities.

Construction Details

Construction of the Raymond Terrace Bypass commenced in November 1993, and the bypass was opened to traffic on 17 December 1998.
