Pacific Highway Upgrade

Coopernook Bypass

The Coopernook Bypass opened to traffic on Wednesday 22 March 2006.

The 4.2 kilometre bypass east of Coopernook village (north of Newcastle), involved the construction of a four-lane divided road, with new twin bridges over the Lansdowne River and Coopernook Creek.

The bypass removes heavy vehicles and highway traffic from Coopernook village, improving pedestrian safety and traffic flow through the village.

The project was fully funded by the NSW State Government.
