The Sapphire to Woolgoolga upgrade will create an average of 700 direct and 2000 indirect jobs during construction.

Leighton Fulton Hogan Joint Venture

Roads and Maritime Services has awarded a contract to a joint venture between Leighton Contractors and Fulton Hogan Pty Ltd to build the Sapphire to Woolgoolga upgrade. Work commenced in August 2010. Depending on weather conditions, this new section of the highway is expected to open to traffic by 2014.
