The project provides a 1.9 kilometres of dual carriageway from the base of the northern end of St Helena Hill to the completed Ewingsdale to Tyagarah project. A new grade-separated interchange has been constructed at the Myocum Road/Ewingsdale Road intersection (Byron Bay turn-off).

The project was jointly funded by the Federal and State governments.
