Bangalow Bypass duplication
The three kilometre Bangalow Bypass duplication is a four lane divided carriageway bypass of Bangalow north of Ballina.
The project was constructed in 2 stages. Stage 1 commenced in 1994.
The project was joint funded by the Australian and NSW governments and opened to traffic in December 1997.
Benefits for road users
- Improved traffic flow.
- Improved safety.
- More overtaking opportunities.
- Landscaping and tree planting was undertaken to minimise the impact on the natural environment.
- Rainforest tree species planted along the road corridor include: pencil cedars, silky oaks and flame trees.
