Pacific Highway safety works - Frederickton to Nambucca Heads
Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) is carrying out a safety review that aims to improve safety on the highway and reduce the number of serious injury and fatal road crashes on this stretch of the highway.
Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) continues to develop and carry out work aimed at improving safety at locations along the Pacific Highway which have been identified as having a poor crash history.
THE PROJECT
The investigation from Frederickton to Nambucca Heads is part of the NSW and Australian governments' $3.6 billion funding commitment to upgrade the Pacific Highway.
Most of the funds from this commitment are being directed to upgrading the Pacific Highway to dual carriageway however there is a need to address road safety and traffic issues on sections of existing two-lane highway. As part of this review Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) will investigate:
- Crash locations and crash history.
- Road lines and warning signs.
- Roadside hazards.
- Speed zones.
- Road signs.
This investigation is an important part of the Pacific Highway upgrade ensuring the safety of motorists on the existing highway while the larger upgrade projects are being designed and built.
