WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW?

Planned construction activities May to August 2012 include:

• The completion of property adjustments between Tableland Road and Nelson Avenue.
• Landscaping between Tableland Road and Dalrymple Avenue (east).
• Work continuing on reconstruction of the eastbound carriageway between Station Street and Old Bathurst Road (west).
• Decommissioning of the Sandbox Road water quality management basin as a construction basin and conversion to permanent use for managing highway runoff.
• Completion of the new eastbound retaining wall next to the railway line from Dalrymple Avenue (west) to 156 Great Western Highway.

Changes to scheduled works may occur due to weather conditions.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED?

• The westbound retaining walls and carriageway between Tableland Road and Dalrymple Avenue (east) have been completed and traffic has been switched over to the new carriageway.
• The Shortland Street intersection with the highway has been permanently reopened and is left turn in and out only.
• The Station Street intersection has been temporarily altered so that the eastbound shoulder and the slow lane of the highway can be built.
• A shared user path from Tableland Road to Dalrymple Avenue (west), to provide safe access for pedestrians and cyclists, is complete.
• Property adjustments between Tableland Road and Nelson Avenue are 80 per cent complete.
• Service roads between Tableland Road and Dalrymple Avenue (east) are 90 per cent complete.
• Relocation of all utilities has been completed.
• The Tableland Road intersection has been reconstructed.
• The new westbound lanes between Nelson Avenue and Dalrymple Avenue (west) are open and landscaping has been completed.
• The main westbound retaining wall between Nelson Avenue and Dalrymple Avenue (west) has been completed.
• The kerbside lane and footpath near the Grand View Hotel have been reconstructed at the Station Street intersection with the highway.
• Traffic lights, including a pedestrian crossing, have been installed at Dalrymple Avenue (east).
• The main eastbound retaining wall and the new alignment of Old Bathust Road (west) have been completed.
• Pedestrian crossing lights have been installed west of Tableland Road to improve safety for schoolchildren and others using the bus stop.
• Sandstone finishing work on the retaining walls between Old Bathurst Road (west) and Old Bathurst Road (east) and landscaping along the eastbound carriageway have been completed.
