Brisbane Water Drive and Manns Road at West Gosford

Community consultation

Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) plans to upgrade the Central Coast Highway at Brisbane Water Drive and Manns Road, West Gosford.

This project is funded by the NSW Government.

The Central Coast Highway provides the major road link from the F3 Sydney - Newcastle Freeway to Gosford, Erina and the coastal suburbs. Brisbane Water Drive and Manns Road are vital links between Gosford, Woy Woy and Narara providing access to railway stations, local businesses, shopping centres, the Central Coast Highway and the F3 Freeway.

The project is being undertaken to

  • Resolve safety and congestion issues.
  • Provide improved capacity for future growth.

Review of environmental factors

The review of environmental factors identifies a comprehensive range of measures to minimise potential environmental effects during and after construction of the intersection upgrade.

The review was on public display during July to August 2010.  Community input was used to improve the proposal.  To view or download information documents relating to this proposal go to the project documents page.

Community consultation

This project has been the subject of intense community discussions.  The community raised significant concerns about the initial project design and Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) recommenced the design process in collaboration with the community.

Hundreds of residents and landowners were included. One on one discussions and focus groups were conducted.

The submissions report in December 2009 notes 9 submissions were received, which resulted in further improvements.

Whats happening now?

On 16 December 2010 the project was approved for construction.

Detailed design and contract documents are being developed in preparation for calling tenders for major roadworks in 2012.

A submissions report has been prepared describing the submissions received and responses to those submissions, following the display of the review of environmental factors.

The Submissions Report and the latest community update can be viewed or downloaded from the project documents page.
