Upgrading the Pacific Highway at San Remo

Map - Upgrading the Pacific Highway at San RemoRoads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) is upgrading the Pacific Highway between Goorama Avenue and Costa Avenue, San Remo from one lane to two lanes in each direction.

The Pacific Highway provides a major road link between Newcastle, Wyong and Gosford. The upgrade of the Pacific Highway at San Remo is being planned to improve safety, ease congestion and provide capacity for future growth and development of the area.

Construction to upgrade the Pacific Highway at San Remo commenced in November 2010 and was opened to traffic in July 2011.

Features and benefits

  • Upgrading the Pacific Highway from one lane to two lanes in each direction.
  • Improving key intersections.
  • Extending the existing shared pedestrian and cycle way.
  • Providing kerb and guttering on the Pacific Highway from Wallarah Creek Bridge to Costa Avenue.
  • Providing safety barriers northbound for driver safety.
