The 1.5 kilometre section of The Entrance Road between Ocean View Drive and Tumbi Road at Wamberal has been upgraded to a four-lane dual carriageway (two lanes in each direction).

The project was completed and opened to traffic on 25 July 2008.

Features

• Dual carriageway separated by a raised median to improve safety.
• The previously displayed median retaining wall between Reads Road and Cabarita Street has been eliminated but retaining walls are required at property boundaries.
• Reads Road, Cabarita Street, Braemar Drive and all vehicular accesses to properties fronting The Entrance Road will be restricted to left in and left out only.
• A continuous shared pedestrian/cycle path on the eastern side of The Entrance Road from Ocean View Drive to Tumbi Road.
• Improved pedestrian facilities with a concrete footpath on the western side of The Entrance Road from Ocean View Drive to Aldinga Drive.
• Wider kerb side lanes for on road cycle use in each direction.
• A signalised pedestrian crossing facility close to the Reads Road intersection.
• Improved street lighting.
• Pedestrian refuges near bus stops to improve the safety of pedestrians crossing The Entrance Road.
• Bus priority lane improvements.
