Windsor Road - Bus corridor 40
Roads and Maritime Services is working to improve bus travel on Windsor Road northbound at Northmead, between Hammers Road and Thomas Street.
The 180-metre long bus facility will allow northbound buses to pick up passengers on Windsor Road without impeding traffic and then merge safely with other motor vehicles. Implementation of the bus facility will not affect access to property.
The project, fully funded by the NSW Government, will complement a series of bus priority treatments being provided on bus corridor 40, which connects Parramatta with Castle Hill as well as the new M60 Parramatta to Hornsby via Castle Hill Metrobus route.
The bus corridor is one of 43 corridors the NSW Government is developing across the Sydney metropolitan area as part of a NSW Government initiative aimed at reducing bus journey times and making bus services more reliable and efficient.
WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Road construction work commenced in May 2011, and is expected to be completed by late 2012, weather permitting.
Property adjustments have been completed and utility adjustments are currently underway.
Some night work is required during construction. Directly affected residents and business operators are being informed prior to any night work.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
After utility adjustments are completed, the next stage of the project involves drainage work, road work and footpath restoration.
To enable this work to be done, it will be necessary to temporarily close the bus stop on Windsor Road (northbound) near the Hammers Road intersection from Monday 2 April 2012. This closure is essential to ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists.
While this bus stop is closed, bus passengers will need to use the existing bus stop on Windsor Road near the intersection of Moxhams Road.
RMS apologises for the inconvenience caused to bus passengers by the temporary closure of this bus stop. It is anticipated that the Hammers Road bus stop will be reopened by late 2012, weather permitting.
