Bus Corridor Program

Bus routes in and out of Parramatta - Bus corridors 6, 10 and 40

Parramatta

Bus routes in and out of Parramatta's central business district (CBD) have changed.

Inbound buses now access the Parramatta Bus-Rail Interchange via Church Street, George Street and Smith Street.

Outbound buses leaving the interchange travel via Smith Smith, Macquarie Street, the re-opened section of the former Church Street Mall between Macquarie and George streets and Church Street.

These changes mean that regular passenger services no longer use Phillip Street.  The exception is Parramatta's free shuttle bus.

Some Victoria Road services operated by the State Transit Authority are continuing to access the Parramatta interchange via Wilde Avenue and Smith Street.

The CBD route changes apply to all Hillsbus services entering Parramatta from the north and State Transit routes 545, 546, 548, 459 and 550.

The new bus routes respond to community requests to amend bus routes introduced for the opening of the Parramatta interchange early in 2006.

The route changes form part of a series of improvements to bus services that Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) and Parramatta City Council are undertaking.

The new routes bring buses to the centre of Parramatta and better serve bus passengers accessing the eastern and western sides of Church Street.

Routing some buses along Church Street from Victoria Road provides more equitable services for people accessing Commonwealth Government and medical services, and the new legal precinct west of Church Street.

A waiting area for up to five buses is provided in Charles Street between Parkes Street and Hassall Street. The bus layover is located in the closed section of the southbound carriageway of Charles Street.
