Inner West Busway along Victoria Road

Cyclist and pedestrian facility improvements

Improvements to cyclist and pedestrian facilities in Drummoyne and Rozelle were identified as important issues in community discussion for the Inner West Busway project. Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) developed a proposal to improve cyclist and pedestrian facilities in consultation with Leichhardt and Canada Bay councils, Bicycles NSW, local bicycle user groups and the wider community.

The $5m cyclist and pedestrian facility improvements are now complete and open as part of the Inner West Busway project.

Key improvements include:

  • A wider shared-use cyclist and pedestrian ramp, linking the new bridge to the Bay Run.
  • Clearly marked alternate cycle routes with designated cyclist pathways.
  • Improved safety for cyclists, pedestrians and motorists.

Planning documents for the cyclist and pedestrian facility improvements are available on the 2010 project documents page.
