Bus Corridor Program

Bridge Street and Beecroft Road at Epping - Bus corridor 9

Further investigations are being carried out on a proposal to provide a bus-only lane in Bridge Street, Epping at the Beecroft Road intersection.

The bus priority lane has been proposed to improve bus services between Parramatta and Macquarie Park as part of a review of the Sydney Transit Authority's local bus operations and the new Metrobus network. Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) wrote to residents and businesses in December 2008 seeking comments on the bus only lane and traffic signals.

What happens next?

The proposal would require construction of an eastbound bus-only lane in Bridge Street and bus-only traffic signals at the Beecroft Road intersection.

The bus lane would allow buses travelling east along Bridge Street to turn right over the Epping rail bridge and then left into Langston Place and continue on to Macquarie Park.

The implementation of this bus lane is subject to the outcomes of consultations with the local community and Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) investigations into traffic impacts on the surrounding road network.
