Warringah Freeway
Warringah Freeway
The Warringah Freeway is a three kilometre freeway from Milsons Point to Merrenburn Avenue at Naremburn. The first stage of the freeway adjoining the Sydney Harbour Bridge was completed over forty years ago.
The freeway provides direct access to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Harbour Tunnel, Cahill Expressway and Western Distributor citybound and to the Pacific Highway, Military Road, Willoughby Road and the Gore Hill Freeway northbound. The freeway has reduced traffic volumes on local streets and improved travel times for motorists travelling between the city and Sydney's north shore.
Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) initiated the Warringah Freeway Project in response to a need to provide access from the Sydney Harbour Bridge to North Shore areas such as Mosman and North Sydney, without disrupting local streets. The freeway provides another important link in the Sydney Orbital Road network.
