Metro Sydney bike networks

Falcon Street cycleway

In order to meet people's preference for cycleways located away from busy traffic the Metro Sydney Bike Network will connect Sydney's major centres with continuous off-road shared paths or traffic-free bicycle paths along quiet local streets.

The Metro Sydney Bike Network is suitable for cyclists of all abilities, including children, who want to ride in safety and comfort.  The network is being developed to help achieve the NSW State Plan target of having cycling account for 5% of all trips of less than 10 kilometres in Greater Sydney by 2016.

WHERE ARE WE NOW?

More than 900 km of off-road or quiet local street cycleway are now operational in Sydney.  Specific funding for the development of the Metro Sydney Bike Network announced in 2010 is now enabling the development of high priority links including:

  • North Shore Cycleway.
  • Inner West GreenWay.
  • M7 Cycleway missing links package.
  • Prospect to Blacktown Cycleway.
