Regional projects
Because most bike trips begin and end on local roads, Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) offers matching funding to NSW local councils to improve bike networks.
During 2010/11 Roads and Maritime Services (formerly Roads and Traffic Authority) has allocated more than $7.2 million to 50/50 fund local cycleway projects in 74 local council areas Statewide.
One hundred and two (102) local bicycle network projects are being funded at a combined cost (including local contributions) of $15.1 million.
