Name changes
Some important routes have been renamed as motorways, as published in the Government Gazette on 1 February 2013.
There are two routes in southern NSW that have been renamed.
- The Southern Freeway and Mount Ousley Road from Waterfall to Albion Park Rail are now part of the M1 Princes Motorway.
- The Hume Highway is now named the M31 Hume Motorway, from the M5 to Berrima, after which it reverts to the Hume Highway. The route is alpha numeric route marked as M31.
Number changes

Border crossings
Two marked routes cross the Victoria border from this region and in both cases the route number will remain the same. For details please view or download the southern NSW factsheet (PDF, 1.2MB).
