Get a safety check

Need to find an authorised inspection station?

You can search for an inspection station by postcode or suburb.

Safety checks are a basic mechanical inspection, targeting vehicle components that may cause a risk to vehicle occupants and other road users if they are not operating correctly or are excessively worn.

After your vehicle has passed a safety check, the authorised safety check station sends a report to Roads and Maritime Services (formerly the RTA) electronically.

This search will allow you to find your closest safety check station, all you need is your postcode. To use this tool, see find an authorised safety check station.
