You need to apply for new registration if you:
- Buy a vehicle that has never been registered.
- Move a vehicle into NSW from another state. This includes vehicles with or without a current interstate registration.
- Import a vehicle from overseas.
- Have a vehicle with expired or cancelled registration. This includes NSW registrations that have been unpaid for longer than three months.
A vehicle can be registered in the name of one person or an incorporated organisation.
