Safety check fees as of 01 July 2011
Schedule of maximum inspection fees for light and heavy vehicles. If you are not sure of the type of inspection you need, phone Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) Contact Centre on 13 22 13.

Heavy Vehicles
Category 1
The following table summarises safety check fees for:
- Rigid trucks over 4.5 tonne GVM but not over 5 tonne tare (not including prime movers).
- Buses over 2.5 tonne tare but not over 5 tonne tare.
- Tow trucks not over 5 tonnes tare.
NOTE: Vehicles fitted with power-operated brakes are included in the next category 2 heavy vehicle fee scale.
