Traffic Volume Data

The RTA undertakes strategic traffic volume surveys on a three year repeating cycle, that covers the whole of NSW by region.

These regions are Sydney, Southern (including Wollongong), South West, Northern, Hunter (including Newcastle), and Western.

Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) data is available free of charge for the following years and Regions by using the link below.

1996, 1999, 2002, 2005 - Sydney, Western

1994, 1997, 2000, 2003, 2006 - Southern, South West

1995, 1998, 2001 - Hunter, Northern

Traffic Volume publications containing the AADT volumes plus hourly and daily traffic counts with maps showing survey locations may be purchased from the RTA library.
