Northbound traffic diverted from F3 tonight as recovery attempt continues

22-04-2009

Motorists are being advised that northbound traffic will be diverted from the F3 at Wahroonga tonight from 8pm.

There will be no access to the F3 northbound from the Pacific Highway and Pennant Hills Road at Wahroonga to allow a 400-tonne crane to recover a B-Double truck which is located down an embankment near Edgeworth David Avenue.

Emergency services including police have arranged for a large crane to make its way to the site from Toongabbie today.

It will be parked under the Pacific Highway overpass on the F3 at Wahroonga until the recovery operation begins around 8pm.

The crane takes between three to four hours to assemble and the same time to disassemble, with four hours to recover the truck.

Traffic will rejoin the F3 at Berowra and diversions are expected to be in place until around 8am tomorrow morning.

Southbound lanes will not be affected.

Motorists are advised to plan their trips and allow extra travel time where necessary.

The RTA thanks motorists for their patience while these diversions are in place.
