New state-of-the-art motor registry opens in Parramatta

28-07-2008

Roads Minister Eric Roozendaal today officially opened a new state-of-the-art RTA Motor Registry in Argyle Street, Parramatta.

Minister Roozendaal, who was joined on site by Member for Parramatta Tanya Gadiel, said it was the second new generation RTA Motor Registry to open in NSW - the first was opened in Blacktown last year.

“These new style motor registries are designed with two things in mind – improving services for customers and providing a modern and comfortable environment for both customers and staff,” Mr Roozendaal said.

“It replaces the old registry which was over 20 years old and boasts improved services for customers including dedicated zones for knowledge testing and counter transactions and a voice activated ticketing system to improve the flow of transactions.

“This is another example of the Iemma Government’s commitment to improve services for hard working families and deliver new infrastructure. “ Ms Gadiel said the new registry was conveniently located adjacent to the Westfield Shopping Centre, providing customers with plenty of parking options and access to public transport.

“The Parramatta RTA Motor Registry incorporates 13 transaction counters, four knowledge test counters and employs 14 staff,” Ms Gadiel said.

“Tow truck services also have a dedicated service counter within the registry.

“The Parramatta registry offers all RTA services except driving tests which have now been relocated to the newly renovated Silverwater Motor Registry in River Street.

“The Silverwater Registry upgrade includes four driver testing counters and eight driver test parking spots.

“The hours have also been extended to Saturdays to provide customers with more opportunities to have driving tests than ever before.

“The improvements at Silverwater and Parramatta demonstrate the RTA’s ongoing commitment to delivering quality customer service in Sydney’s west.”

The new Parramatta RTA Motor Registry is on the Ground Floor of the RTA Office at 27-31 Argyle Street while the Silverwater Registry can be found at 1-15 River Street.

Both registries are open from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to noon on Saturdays.
