Work underway on southbound Tom Uglys Bridge

17-04-2008

Motorists are advised that the RTA has started maintenance work on Tom Uglys southbound bridge.

The $5 million work involves re-painting the bridge as part of an ongoing maintenance program to preserve the longevity of the bridge.

In preparation, work site compounds will be set up under the bridge’s northern and southern approaches.

Enclosed platforms will be built for work crews to prepare the steel surface and repaint the bridge.

For safety reasons, the current reduced speed limit of 60kmh will remain on both the south and northbound bridges for the duration of bridge work.

Pedestrians and cyclists will continue to use the shared path on the southbound bridge.

Motorists are asked to comply with all signs including those for reduced speed limits and to obey the direction of traffic controllers.

Maintenance work will be carried out from Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm and Saturday from 7am and 4pm.

The RTA thanks motorists for their understanding while this essential work is carried out.

Major work will get underway in May.
